“I’m pregnant and still in school. I’m scared. I don’t know how I am going to take care of myself let alone a baby.”
I was three months pregnant when I said those words to my PACN consultant. I was surprised and relieved when I learned all PACN had to offer. I enrolled in VFS (Vouch for Success), PACN’s education program. I read books and did book reports; I attended classes and I earned points that I exchanged for baby items (crib, stroller, etc.)
Not only was I able to earn items to care for my baby, I was also given a free haircut and style at a wonderful salon. That was such a treat and made me feel special. When I had my baby, I received a treasured gift – a beautiful handmade quilt.
That was 15 years ago and I still have the quilt. I had my son and he’s been such a blessing. He’s a teenager now and I can’t imagine life without him. He has given me direction in my life and has made me a better person. I completed college and became a teacher. I am married and my family has grown to four children.
Thank you so much for everything you did for me when I needed it. You will never know the difference it made in my life.
