Client Voices: Meet Mommy M

Sometimes women are nervous when they come to PACN for the first time. Many are seeking answers to questions about pregnancy, their options and how to find the support they need. Mommy M admits she was like many clients before her first appointment – unsure of what she’d find at PACN. Now that we’ve partnered with her through many weeks of pregnancy, she says she truly enjoys interacting with our consultants. We’re here to offer client-centered, medically accurate, compassionate care when women (and their partners) need it most. We’re thankful Mommy M found us, and that PACN could walk along with her during her pregnancy journey!

Q: How have PACN services been helpful to you and your family?

A: At first I really, really didn’t want to even call the office, and now I really enjoy spending time talking about my pregnancy and the slightly unfortunate circumstances around it. PACN has really supported me in my new walk of faith, which has really influenced how I look at myself and this sweet baby. They have even helped me with the way I look at the baby’s father and how I can or cannot help him in his own journey. I participate in the Vouch for Success program and one of my favorite assignments is where I sit down and think about a sermon I have recently watched. Not only do I receive the material positives from doing it, but I also feel more spiritually motivated. PACN is exactly the type of outside support that I need to feel even more comfortable transitioning into being a mommy.

Q: What advice would you give to other moms who come to PACN for our services?

A: The best advice I can give anyone is to encourage them to realize that they aren’t alone and that no matter what their circumstance is, God loves them. It’s silly and a bit self centered to think that you are the only one who has ever had an unplanned pregnancy or a pregnancy that you need help with. There is nothing new under the sun. Feeling ashamed for the pregnancy or for asking for help is an easy way to start feeling like you aren’t worthy. And feeling like you aren’t worthy is essentially saying that what Jesus did for you isn’t enough. You are good enough and you deserve all the support and love you can find on this earth. On the flip side, don’t be too proud to seek that assistance! I had a combination of both of these feelings and am so glad that I made that call (and then followed through).

Q: What’s the best thing about being pregnant / a new mommy? The hardest thing?

A: That’s a hard question! Who doesn’t love looking at all the little clothes and the ultrasounds and trying to imagine their baby here? I also like feeling my sweet baby wiggle inside me, although sometimes it’s a bit painful when she kicks or jabs a little harder. But I think the absolute best feeling I have had during this pregnancy is the one I get when I realize how much everyone in my family and spiritual family love my daughter already. It’s really overwhelming to receive so much from them and realize that these people love my baby so much. The hardest thing? Well, as my pregnancy is unplanned and the situation isn’t exactly close to ideal, I have dealt with a good bit of negativity. But even then, I can see clearly that God is softening their hearts.

Q: How old is your baby (or, when are you due?)?

A: As of right now I have experienced, even when I didn’t know it, around 210 days of baby Adah Jane. I am officially due November 29th, 2014. As many people like to point out, she is a Thanksgiving baby, but even more so, a baby to give thanks for. 🙂
