Did you hear PACN’s big news?! We are so excited to announce construction recently began on the brand new medical wing of our Spring/Woodlands center, and we will offer no-cost well-woman exams in late October. The expansion of our medical program will open the doors for hundreds of women each year to receive care at no-cost and spend valuable time with a nurse practitioner, removing many financial barriers to accessing health care in a timely manner.
A typical well-woman visit will include:
- Pap smear with HPV screening
- Breast exam
- STD & HIV testing
- medical consultation, which is especially important for women who otherwise may not access routine preventative healthcare
- a Q&A opportunity with a registered nurse or Nurse Practitioner to address sexual health concerns and other questions the patient may have
Our well-woman program will accommodate up to 10 patients per week through the end of 2014. In 2015, 15-20 appointments will be available, and an estimated 600 women will receive no-cost well-woman exams within the program’s first year.
The roll out of our well-woman exams marks an important milestone for PACN – we can now address the whole health of a woman, including her spiritual, physical and emotional well-being. In conjunction with our other no-cost programs, our medical expansion makes PACN a trusted “whole care” provider in the community.
